We have covered so much in English 280
that when I sat down to start outlining my final project I was overwhelmed to
say the least. The Bedford Anthology we
lugged to class every day did a great job including a wide range of texts and
covering a good deal of American history at the same time. However, despite all of the literature we
covered this semester there is also so much American literature we did not get
to. This is why this blog is titled “To
Infinity and Beyond.” Although this is a
Buzz Lightyear catchphrase I love applying this idea when looking at something
I think has infinite possibilities.
American Literature cannot be confined to a single book or class, as the
Bedford Anthology and ENG 280 admit.
With that being said, the posts on
this blog will not attempt to completely define or characterized the entirety
of American Literature. My goal for this
project is to go back and examine the texts we have covered this semester to
pick up on themes that stick out to me personally, the ones that I feel most
inspired to right about. It is from
there that I will work to make connections between texts and try to draw new
insight from my analyses.
